Safeguarding

'Our School is committed to safeguarding children and promoting children's welfare and expects all staff, governors, volunteers and visitors share this commitment and maintain a vigilant and safe environment. Everyone is expected to abide by the School's guidance to work appropriately with young people'

At Sudley Primary School, the health, safety and well-being of every child is our top priority. We expect all staff, governors and volunteers to share this commitment to safeguarding our pupils.

We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us. All school staff are trained in Child Protection, and children are made aware of the adults they can talk to if they have any concerns. Staff are trained to look out for signs of abuse or neglect and are required to report these to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

On some occasions our concern about a child may mean that we have to consult other agencies.

Please see our Child Protection Policy for more details.

Operation Encompass

Operation Encompass is a police and education early intervention safeguarding partnership enabling support for children and young people who are experiencing domestic abuse.

Operation Encompass is the reporting of police attended domestic abuse incidents to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, where there are children in the home.

Operation Encompass will ensure that a member of the school staff, (DSL) known as a Key Adult, is trained to allow them to liaise with the police and to use the information that has been shared in confidence, while ensuring that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have experienced a domestic abuse incident.

We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved.
